Lately, I’ve been craving something different.
Not a new house.
Not a full life overhaul.
Just… slower.
Somewhere along the way, everything started to feel rushed.
Meals were quick.
Days blurred together.
Home felt more like a place we passed through than a place we lived in.
And I don’t think I’m alone in that.
So instead of trying to change everything at once, I started making small changes—little shifts that are slowly turning our home into a place that feels calmer, cozier, and more intentional.
Nothing dramatic.
Nothing perfect.
Just small things that are starting to matter more than I expected.
🍞 Making More Food at Home
I’m not suddenly making everything from scratch.
But I am trying.
Bread has been my starting point—and if I’m being honest, it hasn’t been perfect.
Some loaves turn out great.
Some… don’t.
But there’s something really grounding about the process.
Mixing, waiting, trying again.
It’s slower than grabbing something from the store, but it feels more connected—like I’m a little more involved in the rhythm of our home.
🌱 Starting a Garden (Even as a Beginner)
This is the newest part of this shift.
I decided to start a garden without really knowing what I was doing, which is totally outside my comfort zone.
But I didn’t want to wait until I had it all figured out.
So I started small.
A few seed trays on the windowsill.
A simple setup.
Learning as I go.
There’s something about watching things grow, even slowly, that changes how you experience your days.
It gives you something to check on.
Something to care for.
Something to look forward to.
And the best part? I’ve included my kids in the process, so they are learning, too!
🕯️ Letting Things Be a Little Slower
This might be the hardest one.
Because everything around us pushes for faster, easier, more convenient.
And I still live in that world.
I still rush.
I still multitask.
I still choose convenience more often than I’d like.
(it’s spring sports season so these are obvious!)
But I’m starting to notice the moments where I can slow things down, even just a little.
Leaving my phone in another room.
Opening the windows.
Hanging the laundry to dry.
Letting a task take a little longer.
Not because I have to… but because I want to.
🤍 Redefining What “Home” Feels Like
I used to think creating a cozy home meant decorating a certain way.
And don’t get me wrong, I still love a beautiful space.
But I’m starting to realize it’s less about how things look… and more about how they feel.
A cozy home isn’t:
- perfectly styled
- always clean
- or completely quiet
It’s lived in.
It’s a little messy.
It’s full of moments that matter.
These days, that’s barbie dolls on the living floor.
🌿 I’m Still Figuring It Out
None of this is perfect.
Some days still feel rushed.
Some weeks I fall back into old habits.
But these small changes are adding up.
And little by little, our home is starting to feel different.
Softer.
Slower.
More like a place we actually want to be.
🤍 If You’re Feeling This Too…
If you’ve been craving a slower pace, a cozier home, or just a little more intention in your day…
You don’t have to change everything.
You can start small.
That’s what I’m doing.
🌿 Follow Along
I’ll keep sharing what I’m learning, trying, and changing along the way,
from gardening – to homemade living – to creating a home that feels good to be in!
Here are a few things I’m loving lately:
- Beginniner gardening supplies
- Clothespin bag
- Kitchen tools
